Potassium Tp Method 3x100mL Per Box. QCA

Potassium Tp Method

3 x 100 mL / Box

PRINCIPLE

After deproteinization of serum with trichloracetic acid (TCA), potassium ions precipitate with sodium tetraphenylboron (Na-TPB) in an alkaline medium, resulting in a stable suspension of potassium tetraphenylborate. The turbidity produced is proportional to the potassium concentration of the sample. DIAGNOSTIC USE Potassium determination is used for electrolytic balance evaluation. Potassium levels are controlled by aldosterone hormone. This hormone, released by suprarenal glands, increases the sodium absorption and potassium excretion in the kidneys. High levels of potassium in serum may be caused by the intake of potassium supplements or acute renal failure. Low potassium levels are found in cases of decreased potassium intake or potassium loss from the body through intestinal secretions or urine. Single test result could not be used to make a clinical diagnosis. It should integrate clinical and laboratory data
